Her name is Bekti Maulana, a Rapel Collector who picks up trash in the Sukoharjo area and its surroundings. A unique yellow bicycle that has a height of 1.8 meters is a means of picking up Bekti in picking up trash posts from the Rapel application. Every day, Bekti pedals no less than 30 kilometers. Bekti's burning passion is based on his belief that "the real step to save the earth is to manage waste".
Rapel had the opportunity to cover Bekti's daily life at his place of residence. During the interview session, suddenly there was a post notification of a Rapel application user who was 7 kilometers away. We also asked permission to cover the entire pick-up process. “Come on, come on”, he told us. After wearing equipment safety cycling, Bekti agilely pushed and then climbed the tall bicycle. Along the way many greeted Bekti, it seems that the uniqueness of his bicycle has attracted the attention of other road users. The bicycle continues to go north, the main road of the Bekonang sub-district. Passing vehicles seemed not to be an obstacle for Bekti, confidently he maneuvered between vehicles. He often experiences bad experiences, "I've also been kicked from behind, do not know what's the problem, sometimes the people on the street are strange, "he said.
About 20 minutes of cycling, we arrived at the user's house. The trash posted has been neatly sorted on the terrace of his house. Bekti got down slowly from the bicycle, after greeting the user, he asked permission to lean his bicycle on the terrace pole, because his bicycle did not have standards. It didn't take long to clean up this post, because the waste has been properly and correctly sorted according to its type. The user's ability to sort waste cannot be separated from Bekti's efforts in educating. "Usually the first post is still messy bro, I share knowledge with people who care about the environment how to best manage waste, including sorting it."
After picking up the trash, we returned to Bekti's residence. Garbage that is neatly tied between the bicycle frames is lowered slowly, collected according to its type in the storage shed. Every month, on average, Bekti collects up to 400 kg of inorganic waste which will be picked up by Rapel and then sent to the recycling industry. Bekti has taken part in efforts to preserve the earth by becoming a collector. Hopefully this article will inspire you to participate in taking concrete steps to save the earth by sorting waste and posting your segregated waste with the Rapel application. (THW)
